S aint-Eustache – ou Statia (prononcer sté-cha) – fut la première puissance étrangère à reconnaître o " ciellement les États-Unis d’Amérique. Le 16 novembre 1776, le gouverneur néerlandais de l’île salua de treize coups de canon l’arrivée du USS Andrew Doria, venu s’approvisionner en armes et munitions, alors que le navire était pourchassé par les Britanniques. Une plaque o ! erte en 1939 par le président Franklin D. Roosevelt, apposée dans l’enceinte du Fort Oranje, commémore cet épisode historique. These areas are home to three species of sea turtles, the Lesser Antillean iguana, the harmless red-bellied racer snake, and remarkable flora such as orchids, cacti, and the Ipomoea sphenophylla morning glory, found only on St. Eustatius. 3parcs nationaux S t.
