I l est officiellement interdit de mouiller l’ancre dans cette magnifique baie ourlée d’une longue plage de sable fin, mais il semble que la tolérance soit de mise. Il faut toutefois veiller à déposer l’ancre sur fond de sable blanc, assez près de la plage, et non dans l’herbier, afin de ne pas porter atteinte à la flore et à la faune, et tout par- ticulièrement aux lambis, dont l’espèce est protégée. Rendezvous Bay est réputée pour son bar restaurant de plage, le Dune Pre- serve (vers le milieu de la plage), et l’un de ses propriétaires, le chanteur Bankie Banx, parfois appelé le «Bob Dylan anguillais». Yet it is always important to anchor on the sandy bottom closer to the beach, and never in the underwater plant beds so as not to cause damage to the flo- ra and fauna, and especially the conch—a protected species. Dans des conditions normales, l’accostage en dinghy est souvent difficile, voire dangereux, et l’on préfèrera alors s’équiper de palmes pour débarquer sur la magnifique plage. Déserte, Dog Island est une île privée, véritable paradis pour les oiseaux et les ornithologues. Les fous et les frégates s’y reproduisent et défendent leurs nids avec force cris si le visiteur s’en approche d’un peu trop près.Les cactus «têtes à l’Anglais» et les lys sauvages ajoutent au cachet de cet îlot peu fréquenté, mais qui vaut le détour. Les amateurs de snorkeling passeront un moment de bonheur au sud de West Cay. Rappelons que Dog Island fait partie du Marine Park d’Anguilla et qu’il est interdit d’y passer la nuit. Dog Island T he waters of Great Bay are often rough, making mooring around Dog Island difficult especially when there are swells from the north. Even in normal conditions, reaching the beach by dinghy may be dangerous and it is advised to wear palms and a mask and swim to the fabulous beach instead. Uninhabited, Dog Island is private and offers a true  paradise for birds and bird watchers. Brown boobies and frigates reproduce here and defend their nests with loud cries if curious visitors get too close. The Turk’s cap cactus (Melocactus intortus) and wild lilies add a bit of charm to this deserted island that is worth a detour. Those who enjoy snorkeling should head to the south of West Cay.
